about

How do we responsibly show work in the age of Covid-19? As art spaces must close indefinitely for the safety of our communities, we explore other outlets of showing work while we shelter in place.  While we value the work art spaces are quickly doing to organize online platforms for showing and viewing work, we acknowledge the privilege of owning and knowing how to use electronic devices, computers, and their online platforms and the inherent inaccessibility that moving from physical, free, public art spaces to online art consumption creates.

Living Window is for passerbys--for those on their night walk; for the neighborhood; for a hyper-local audience: free, physical, contact-less public art to those who happen upon.

How will the work be shown?

Selected submissions will become one collective video piece, to be screened on loop.  This will be exhibited through a 4ftx5ft window projection, visible at street view.

I'd love to visit Living Window, but I don't live in Philadelphia.

Living Window will be live streaming a street-view screening; a screen-view screening; and a live artist talk series on Window Room TV. Head to the exhibition page to learn more.
